How to create a creme blush in 5 simple steps

1. Select makeup, blush-creme, as the type of formula you would like to create today, then click Create..

Crème Blush: Our Create Cosmetic Formulas program uses dicaprylyl carbonate or isoamyl laurate as the base ingredient in crème blush formulas which is a naturally derived emollient with good spreading properties that gives your blush a very light skin-feel. Along with caprylic/capric triglycerides which is a silky, light-weight emollient that helps the blush blend easily without feeling heavy, sticky, or oily.

2. Choose your lipids and consistency factor.

I have chosen a combination of natural oils with a medium to heavy skin feel. Almond oil softens and reconditions the skin; mango butter is soft and buttery to moisturise the skin; and macadamia oil which is rich in omega 3’s and great for skin rejuvenation.

For consistency I have chosen beeswax to give the creme blush a solid but spreadable consistency that holds its shape in a pot or stick; hydrogenated vegetable oil to provide a smooth glide during application, helping the blush blend evenly; and Myrica fruit wax for it’s smooth, creamy, elegant texture that is lighter than traditional waxes.

Not sure which consistency factor to choose? That’s ok hit “select 2-4” for a description of consistency options.

3. Choose your mica, colourants and pigments.

Time to personalise it! For the colour I have chosen ultramine pink which is a cool toned pink and pink camel mica. I have added them both to the formula at 3%w/w for a soft, muted pink colour that looks natural on the skin. You could add different combinations or colour, mica for sparkle or titanium dioxide for opacity but I have decided to keep this blush clean and simple for a natural, healthy flush to the cheeks

Not sure which colourants to select? That’s okay, read our go-to guide on cosmetic ingredients here. and refer to page 10 for more information.

4. Choose antioxidant and fragrance.

I have chosen mixed tocopherols it gives the best antioxidant protection to both the skin and the formula. I have decided to keep this crème blush fragrance free, but you can add essential oils or fragrance to further personalise your blush.

5. Click Generate Method

Then here is my formula, and here is the method!

Now all you need to do is find your nearest cosmetic ingredient suppliers, order the materials, and get making your very own crème blush!

Once you’ve made one formula, you’ll be keen to make more! With Create Cosmetic Formulas, you have almost limitless formulation creation, and just one low annual subscription.
